A Love for the World.
So this month, I’ll be writing to you about all things around Self Love — the most important love there is.
And Roses are ‘The Queen Of Love.’
Throughout history, Roses have been symbolic of love and romance.
The Greeks and Romans saw the Rose as a powerful symbol of love and adoration. They strongly associated it with Aphrodite (Venus), the goddess of love and beauty. She is often portrayed with a crown of roses around her head.
Consequently, the association of Roses with love is also a concept passed on from mythology that relate to how the name of Eros, the God of Love, can be rearranged to form the word ‘rose’. Interesting hey.
Historical accounts show that Cleopatra used the Oil of Roses to fragrance her ships sails, to seduce Mark Antony to be with her. Ahh the power of seduction. 💅🏻 ✨
Rose Oil has been used in beauty preparations for hundreds of years. The aroma evoking memories of feelings of love and brings comfort in challenging times.
Did you know that it takes approximately 60 Roses to make one drop of this precious Essential Oil? Wow! Filip Lissicharov from Enio Bonchev Rose Production in Bulgaria walked me through behind the scenes of the distillation and production of rose essential oils. You can watch our fun conversation here.
So that is why it is one of the most expensive Essential Oils to purchase. You will find it it is diluted in a carrier oil like Jojoba, usually at a 3% dilution.
This means 3 mls. / 0.1 oz. of Rose Oil for every 100 mls / 3 oz’s. of Jojoba Oil. I’ve been paying approximately $350 AUD for 5 mls of Organic Pure Rose Essential Oil undiluted!
